In 2014, streetwear jewelry brand GoodWoodNYC released one of the coolest hip-hop home pieces around: “The East West Coasters,” a set of laser-etched wooden coasters paying homage to some of the greatest albums our culture has ever produced.

The set depicts the cover art of four debut classics from four GOATs of the genre — Nas’ “Illmatic,” The Notorious B.I.G.’s “Ready to Die,” Snoop Doggy Dogg’s “Doggystyle,” and Dr. Dre’s “The Chronic.” It’s hard to argue with those picks; decades later, every one of those records is still considered a foundational classic, balanced neatly across the East and West coasts.

GoodWoodNYC built its name turning hip-hop iconography into wearable and collectible wood pieces, and “The East West Coasters” are a perfect example of that craftsmanship. Whether you rep the East Coast or the West Coast, this is the kind of functional collectible that belongs on any hip-hop head’s coffee table — a dope, understated grail for the culture.
